Story
The Beginning
Kia Kōrero was born out of a personal journey and a deep desire to heal, which started by learning the Māori language. Growing up, we were not familiar with te reo Māori or our own individual whakapapa. This lack of connection to our cultural roots was a significant gap in our life and a challenge we felt compelled to address. Our own journey to learn te reo Māori and explore our heritage sparked a profound desire to help others who might be on a similar path.
Our Vision
Kia Kōrero began with a heartfelt mission and a small but dedicated team, focused on offering introductory classes and workshops. Our approach was grounded in the belief that understanding and embracing one’s cultural roots is a powerful and enriching experience. We quickly gained recognition for our personalized teaching methods and our commitment to helping learners connect with their own stories.
Our Evolution
Before we became known as Kia Kōrero, we delivered langauge learning courses to a local community in Wellington. As our community grew, so did our offerings. We expanded our programs to include online tutoring, making it possible to reach learners across Aotearoa and beyond. We continually seek new ways to enrich our curriculum, incorporating diverse teaching methods and resources to keep the learning experience dynamic and relevant.
